Frequently Questions Asked !
We know, this is a complex subject! We all want to save the world (and Willie, and the soldier Ryan, and…) but there are so many battles, such extreme changes and severe damages already… What to do? How to do it? And where to begin?
At Jellyfishhh, we believe the FIRST STEP is “simply” to clean-up! Thanks to good equipment and a connected, committed community, we feel the objective is indeed A-CH-IE-VA-BLE!
And, seeing as we want all of you to join us on this adventure, we have prepared answers to all of your questions! If we have forgotten any, please don’t hesitate to let us know, we will get back to you!

Without entering into the debate of ‘good samaritans’ and ‘collective responsibility’, you would be surprised to know that it might, in fact, be your litter. Yes, littering is not only an act done by those who are poor-mannered or badly-educated. In reality, a lot of litter is displaced by the wind. While the majority of waste treatment sites are equipped to prevent this phenomenon from happening, significant waste still manages to escape each year, during the rubbish-collection process, transportation, recycling, etc. Moreover, have you really never lost a mask, a piece of paper or a scarf without realising it? It happens to all of us. So, let us pick up what others have inadvertently or accidently lost. Finally, no matter which way litter ends up in the wrong place, we all suffer the consequences. From the land to the oceans; pollution, micro-particles and plastic is everywhere, and eventually ends up in our plates.
You don’t feel like eating the packaging of a chocolate bar reduced into tiny particles? So then, pick it up. Don’t wait for someone else to do it for you.
Most litter is not biodegradable, this means it takes years (sometimes even hundreds of years!) to disintegrate and eventually disappear. When exposed to the elements; water, wind, snow, animals, etc. the litter decomposes bit-by-bit, very slowly. The materials making up the litter - such as plastics, colourants or chemical products - find their way into the water, the soil, the air or even living animals.
By drinking polluted water and by eating contaminated fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, we are ingesting these pollutants. So, it's not just about cleaning up the Planet by picking-up litter that is scattered around in nature, but also, and especially, it's about taking care of our health in the long-term.
Yes, a garbage bag is a good start, but with Jellyfishhh we opt to avoid the use of polyethylene bags, because they are also a significant source of pollution. Jellyfishhh provides you with catch-all equipment that allows you to keep your hands clean, and to reduce the plethora of plastic bags used to collect a few cigarette butts or plastic packagings during your everyday commuting. We have designed bags, gloves and accessories adapted to your daily life. Our products are tear-resistant, durable, easy-to-store and dirt-repelling. We are convinced that, like in all domains of life, equipment is key. In the same way that your state-of-the-art hiking shoes motivate you to go hiking, our kits motivate you to pick up view-spoiling litter that you come across on the daily. Not only are our products practical, but you will also be proud to wear and carry them.
We know that the power of a united, motivated community is incredible. This is why we offer a free-of-charge app, available on Apple and GooglePlay, which allows you to:
- Categorise the litter you find and collect, using photographs
- Read up and inform yourself on the subject
- Follow progress and impact (by regularly recording how many litres of litter is collected, which our bags are designed to indicate)
- Geo-localise and share places that are litter-filled and needing collection
- Create and circulate group litter-collection events, whether public or private
- Raise awareness in surrounding municipalities and brands
- Be rewarded for your commitment, thanks to coupons from our generous partners who are engaged for the Planet
By taking photos, tracking and recording the volume of litter that you collect, you become an actor on a greater scale, helping us to advocate within communities and brands.
No, the App is at your disposal right away. It will allow you to familiarise yourself with the subject at hand, and to create or participate in collection events organised near you. You can also geo-localise “litter-zones” that you come across, and thus inform other Jellyfishhhers that these spots are in need of collection.
Our aim is to support the ongoing work of numerous organisations. They raise awareness, unite, engage and mobilise. We facilitate this by growing the number of daily volunteers, and by sharing, on a single platform through our App, all those who participate in best-practice “plogging”.
We do not intend to replace these organisations, rather, we want to stand by them and amplify their actions. Our innovation lies in “usage”: yes, the action of waste-collection already exists, but we would like to make it more widespread and accessible to everyone; removing obstacles which hamper this natural, simple deed, by offering convenient, non-dirtying, non-restricting tools that will transform litter clean-ups into a new reflex.
Above and beyond the habitual reputation, image and brand-strengthening benefits that come with CSR engagement, Jellyfishhh is a solution allowing employees - whatever their roles and responsibilities - and clients, to clean our Planet. It is concrete, local and has an immediate impact. Quite simply, it is spreading a good message as widely as possible. In our eyes, a business is a community of humans committed to a common cause; what we are suggesting is that you add ‘cleaning the Planet’ to your common mission. And what a great feeling it is to have a shared purpose!
This function will soon be available! Because, yes, we want our everyday heroes to be rewarded for their engagement. This is why we are preparing a system of “coupons” allowing you to benefit from unique perks within businesses which are carefully selected according to their ethical commitments. Everyone wins, starting with the Planet!
For now, it will re-enter the current system of waste collection and treatment. However, before dropping off the collected waste in a municipal garbage bin or in your usual dustbin, we invite you to photograph and categorise what you have collected. Not only will this allow you to identify the volume and types of rubbish materials collected, and to think of new systems of waste-treatment, but we can also alert brands of repeated presence of their packaging and products in nature. Inform, communicate, measure - we use as many instruments available to us as possible, in order to make change happen!
Exactly ! Did you know the mucus of jellyfish acts as a natural filter, capable of separating nano-particles from water? This explains the significance of the name, because as we all know, plastic pollution is a real plague to our environment.
